Shiseido’s first cosmetics based on Western pharmaceutical formulas

In 1897, Shiseido launched Eudermine, an advanced lotion based on a Western pharmacological formula. It was one of Shiseido’s first forays into the cosmetics business. Packaged in a beautiful glass container, this lotion became popular and well known under the nickname “Shiseido’s Red Water. The name “Eudermine” is derived from the Greek words “eu” (good) and “derma” (skin), meaning “good skin.
