This was the first multi-colored powder white powder in Japan, offering seven colors at a time when white powder was the mainstream.

In 1917, the company launched “seven kinds of colored Fukuhara white powders” (later renamed “seven colors of white powders”). Even though white white powder was still the mainstream, this multi-colored powder was available in seven different colors: white, rose, peony, flesh yellow, yellow, green, and purple. It was a revolutionary product that allowed users to use different colors according to their individual faces, the color of what they were wearing, and the light or darkness of the light.

The package design was also creative, adopting the Art Deco style that was beginning to emerge in Europe. The octagonal container was square with straight corners, covered with thin satin, and the lid was stamped with a slightly modified version of the trademark “Camellia japonica” in gold foil. The upper part of the camellia bears the French words “POUDRE DE RIZ,” meaning “rice powder,” and the lower part bears the words “SHISEIDO TOKYO.
